KPME renewal
KPME registration is valid for five years. Apply for renewal 90 days before expiry, because districts are now fining establishments that run on expired certificates.

When to renew KPME registration
Under section 7 as substituted by Karnataka Act No. 06 of 2026, a KPME registration or renewal is valid for five years and may be renewed every five years. Section 5C says the renewal application must be made 90 days before the certificate expires.
Establishments that were registered before the amendment are treated as provisionally registered until their current certificate expires, so the new renewal rules apply at your next renewal.
Running after expiry is risky. In October 2026 the Dakshina Kannada district authority fined two hospitals Rs 1 lakh each under section 19(1) for operating without renewing their KPME registration.
